Google Drive handoff
Find a file, share a link, and check who has access. The rule is simple: make the file findable, the permissions visible, and the handoff legible.
Who it is for
Someone who needs to open Google Drive, find a file, share a link, and see who already has access.
Handoff means you can do those jobs without the builder sitting there. Do not write the password on this page.
Steps
- Open drive.google.com and sign in with the same Google account that owns the files.
- To find a file, use the search box at the top. Type a name or a word from the file, then open the result.
- To share, right-click the file (or select it and click Share). Add an email, or choose Copy link if you need a link.
- Check the role: Viewer, Commenter, or Editor. Viewer is enough for most handoffs.
- Open Share again later to see who has access. Remove someone if they should not keep the file.
Button names move a little. Stay in the same places: Search, Share, the access list, and Copy link.
